Self-taught on piano beginning at the
age of seven and then classically trained, Aedan crossed over to Celtic
music as a young adult, choosing the harp for her main instrument. She
now specializes in the beautiful music of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. She
studied harp in Ireland with Maire Ni Chathasaigh, one of the most renowned
harpers in Ireland, as well as other well-known harpers from Wales, Scotland
and the U.S. She has performed in Southern
California and the San Francisco Bay Area for radio shows, public television,
music festivals (including opening for the Battlefield Band), benefits, art
shows, restaurants, hotels, private parties, weddings, funerals and religious
celebrations. Her music has reached as far as Russia. Aedan has
also appeared as a guest harper on several CD's. In addition, she has
her own CD, "
As the Crow Flies". Playing harp, accordion, concertina
and singing and dancing, Aedan performs concerts throughout Northern and
Southern California performing traditional works as well as her own original
pieces. She is also the director of a professional ensemble, Beggar's
Riddle, who perform dance, music and song from England, Ireland and
Scotland. One of the greatest compliments Aedan
ever received was given twice, first by an elderly Irish woman and on a
separate occasion, a Scottish immigrant, who both said : "Thank you,
I felt like I was back home again." |
